Target Objectives

Worthwhile Task Indicators

Example Tasks

  • 5.N.2.2

    5.N.3.4

    5.N.2.1

  • Develop generalizations of results obtained and the strategies used and apply them to new problem situations
  • Make judgements based on given criteria
  • Make conversions among representations of numbers

This three part example task takes the teacher through the exploration phase, where the teacher is simply guiding the students with constructive questioning.  Then the students will work with a partner or small group to complete a related task with Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning.  The final part of the task encourages the students to make conversions and expand their thinking to make generalizations based on Part 1 and Part 2.
