PK.GM.2.1 Identify measurable attributes of objects.  Describe them as little, big, long, short, tall, heavy, light, or other age appropriate vocabulary.


In a Nutshell

Students entering Pre-K are able to make observations about the world around them. By the end of the year, students should be using math focused vocabulary in everyday and instructional conversation to describe characteristics of objects.

  • Advance mathematical reasoning by identifying appropriate math vocabulary for measurable attributes.
  • Communicate mathematically by discussing the attributes of objects, using math vocabulary.
  • Connect mathematical representations by modeling and using math focused vocabulary in conversation with students.
  • Facilitate meaningful math discourse by providing opportunities for students to talk and use math vocabulary.
  • Promote reasoning and problem solving by providing opportunities for students to use a measurable attribute in a sentence.  Ex. using a sentence frame for the students to fill in.
