In a Nutshell

Students will solve equations with multiple variables for a specific variable in order to solve linear equations for graphing and to write equivalent  formulas, building on pre-algebra properties of solving equations.

What is the slope of the line with equation

Interpretation: Then the slope is m =  –3/2.

  • Students may solve for the incorrect variable when multiple variables are in an equation.
